What is BillPay for Home?
BillPay for Home is how you can pay rent and mortgage with Bilt while living outside of the Bilt Alliance. We support rent payments, mortgage payments, and HOA payments with various payment methods. With BillPay, members can pay via:
- BillPay for Rent
- Online payment portals (available to all Bilt members)
- Check payments (exclusively for Bilt Card holders)
- Venmo payments (exclusively for Bilt Card holders)
- BillPay for Mortgage (exclusively for Bilt Card holders)
- Online payments
- Check payments
- Direct mortgage payments
- BillPay for HOA
- Online payments (available to all Bilt members)
- Check payments (exclusively for Bilt Card holders)
How do I select my BillPay for Rent Setting?
To make a payment using BillPay, start by logging into your Bilt account:
- Head to the "My Home" tab
- Click ‘Get started’
- Select what you would like to set up BillPay for (Rent, Mortgage, HOA)
- Choose how you’d like to pay rent (Property Portal, Check, Venmo)
- Follow the on screen prompts to complete your payment setup
- Select "Complete" to finish and save your information
- Once you’ve saved your option, you can select “Make a payment” to complete a rent payment.
How do I select my BillPay for Mortgage Setting?
To make a payment using BillPay, start by logging into your Bilt account:
- Head to the "My Home" tab
- Click ‘Get started’
- Select what you would like to set up BillPay for (Rent, Mortgage, HOA)
- Select your Mortgage servicer and follow the on-screen prompts
- Select "Complete" to finish and save your information.
- Once you’ve saved your option, you can select “Make a payment” to complete a mortgage payment.
How do I select my BillPay for HOA Setting?
To make a payment using BillPay, start by logging into your Bilt account:
- Head to the Pay Home tab
- Click Get started
- Select what you would like to set up BillPay for (Rent, Mortgage, HOA)
- Select your Mortgage servicer and follow the on screen prompts
- Choose your BillPay method and follow the on screen prompts
- Select Complete to finish and save your information
How do I pay through an online payment portal?
First you will have to successfully set up your BillPay on the pay home tab and select a preferred payment method. Then, we will provide you with a BillPay account that you will need to add as a payment method in your housing portal. To do so, follow these steps:
- Add the payment details (routing and account number) to your housing portal (you'll only do this once)
- Personal Checking account with your Name
- If it asks for an address, you can use 1 Letterman Dr A4-700, San Francisco, CA 94129
- Submit your payment in your online portal
- Bilt will charge your selected payment method automatically
How do I pay with a check?
If you have a Bilt Card, you can choose to have us mail your landlord or mortgage servicer a check, and the payment will get charged to your Bilt Card.
- Open the Bilt app and navigate to the My home tab
- Click Get started and select Check as your payment method
- Enter your monthly rent amount in the designated field
- Enter your check payment details and the address you’d like it mailed to.
- Select your preferred delivery method for the rent check: USPS, FedEx 2Day® or FedEx Standard Overnight® (additional fees may apply to FedEx deliveries)
- Tap Next to review your payment information
- Then tap Pay to submit your check payment
- Your payment will be charged to your card and paid off within 24hrs.
To enable autopay for checks in the Bilt app, please follow the steps below after you have already set up your Billpay:
- Head to the Pay home tab
- Under BillPay for Home click Autopay for check
- Fill out required information
- Tap Complete set up
How do I pay rent using Venmo?
If you have a Bilt Card you can Venmo your landlord directly in your Bilt account and it will get charged to your Bilt Card.
- Open the Bilt app and navigate to the Pay home tab
- Click Get started and select Venmo as your payment method
- The first time you set up your Venmo payments you will be directed to Venmo to link your account
- You will be asked to select a backup payment method during linking. Please note that rent will not get charged to your backup payment method. This will unlock additional features with Venmo that will be rolled out over the coming months.
- Search for your payment recipient’s phone number
- Confirm your recipient
- Enter your monthly rent amount in the designated field
- Tap Next to review your payment information
- Then tap Pay to submit your Venmo payment
Your landlord will receive the Venmo payment from “Bilt Technologies”, not your personal Venmo account. Your name will appear in the memo (this can be edited on the payment confirmation screen) We will send a text to your landlord as soon as the payment is submitted letting them know funds are on the way! It will take 3 business days for them to receive the Venmo payment. Please submit your Venmo payments 3 business days prior to when it’s due to ensure it arrives on time and to avoid any late fees.
How do direct mortgage payments work?
If you have a Bilt Card and have a mortgage with one of our supported servicers, we can send a payment directly to your loan, and the payment will get charged to your Bilt Card.
- Open the Bilt app and navigate to the Pay home tab
- Click Get started and select Mortgage
- Select your Mortgage servicer
- If your servicer is supported, you will be asked to confirm your loan number
- You can still pay your mortgage with Bilt, even if we do not support your servicer; you will need to select a different payment setting (online or check)
- Select Confirm to finish and save your information
- Click Make a payment
- Enter your monthly mortgage amount in the designated field
- Tap Continue to review your payment information
- Then tap Pay to submit your loan payment
It will take 3 business days for your mortgage servicer to receive the payment. Please submit your payments 3 business days prior to when it's due to ensure it arrives on time and to avoid any late fees.
Are all mortgage servicer’s supported?
We support almost all mortgage types. You can directly connect your mortgage to your Bilt account, or if you can’t find your mortgage, manually link your Billpay account to your mortgage servicer portal or send a check.
My mortgage servicer provides a discount if I set up autopay. How can I pay my mortgage with Bilt and still receive this discount?
Please select the online payment option when setting up your Billpay for mortgage settings. You can then use this Billpay account as the payment method for your autopay on your payment portal, and we will charge your Bilt card each month.
What if my portal requires small deposits/microdeposit?
- If you're asked to provide the amount of two (2) small deposits to verify the account, you will receive an email and text message from Bilt with the amounts in two (2) to three (3) days.
- If you're not asked for this, you can skip this step.
I'm being asked to include a bank name and/or address associated with my bank account and routing number. What should I enter?
- The bank name associated with your BillPay account is Column N.A. and should be listed as a checking account.

Can I deposit money into my BillPay Account?
- Usage of your BillPay Account is only for housing related payments in your payment portal to earn Bilt points on your housing related transaction. You may never deposit or transfer funds to this account.
- Bilt will reject any funds deposited in your account that are not micro-deposits (see "What if my portal requires small deposits/micro-deposits?", above, for more information on micro-deposits).
What if a rent or mortgage payment is returned to my BillPay Account?
- If you receive a refund for a rent payment using your BillPay account, it will be returned to the originator (e.g., your property manager or landlord). You'll need to reach out to your property manager or landlord directly to request that your refund be deposited to another account.
How do I link my BillPay account via Plaid on my payment portal?
To link your BillPay account with Plaid, please follow the steps below:
- Select the option to link your BillPay via Plaid as a ‘Bank Account’
- Select ‘Instant Bank Verification’
- Select ‘Connect a new institution’
- Search ‘Bilt Rewards’
- Log into your Bilt Account with your Bilt credentials
- Select ‘BillPay Account’ with the matching last 4 digits of your BillPay Account
- Select your ‘Bilt Rewards Personal Checking’ as your payment method for future rent payments.
